Although a little blustery, the weather stayed dry for the 116 players who competed for the Lily Cup, raising over £12,000. Congratulations to the winning team, led by Stuart from Ashford Homes, who took home a hamper full of local goodies, a golfing voucher and the all-important silverware.
There were additional prizes on offer throughout the day for contests such as ‘longest drive’ and ‘nearest the pin’, plus the ‘pitch into the dumpster’ competition which made great use of the dumpster truck kindly donated by Alide Hire.
Willmotts made time to bring along the oh-so-striking Lily lorry, while Lansdown Mazda in Bath had very generously offered up an incredible prize of a Mazda 2 car for anyone who secured a hole in one. However, despite their best efforts no one was able to drive it away at the end of the day.
After all the excitement on the green, everyone headed to the clubhouse for a 2-course meal and plenty of after-dinner entertainment. A big thank you to our celebrity guests, Scotland and Bath rugby players Finn Russell and Cameron Redpath, who gave everyone the thoroughly enjoyable lowdown on the Bath v Sale semi-final match that was taking place the following day.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in making the day such a success, with special mentions to our generous main sponsors Omnia Outsourcing Limited, our host for the evening, ex-rugby professional David Trick, and everyone at Cumberwell Park for supporting us.
Now that this event is officially on the Lily calendar, we look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s South West Golf Day on Friday 30th May 2025 – be sure to save the date!
