Kevin’s football fundraiser!

Set Kevin Day on his way as he marches over 60 miles from Spurs to Palace to put mito on the map.

Sponsor Kevin

Comedian Kevin Day has been a celebrity supporter of The Lily Foundation for as long as we can remember. This September he’ll be taking on an incredible charity challenge to once again show his support for us and raise funds to help fight mitochondrial disease – but he’ll need your support!

In a capital challenge involving his first love, football, Kevin will be walking from Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium to Selhurst Park, the home of his beloved Crystal Palace. As part of our Putting mito on the map campaign for World Mitochondrial Disease Week, he’ll be stopping off at a total of thirteen London football stadiums along the way, spreading the word about mitochondrial disease and raising valuable funds. This amazing challenge will see him cover more than 60 miles over three days from 17th-19th September – that’s between 18 and 22 miles per day!

About Kevin Day

Kevin is a comedian, writer and sports presenter who’s been supporting The Lily Foundation and hosting our annual Comedy Night for years.

He came to prominence in the British alternative comedy scene of the early nineties before moving into script writing for TV comedies. Having written for TV shows such as They Think It’s All Over, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and The Graham Norton Show, he knows a thing or two about making us laugh.

He’s also a Crystal Palace fan and is known for presenting the filmed inserts on Match of the Day 2. In his current podcast series, The Price of Football, alongside football finances expert Kieran Maguire he examines what’s really going on behind the scenes of the beautiful game.

It’s wonderful to have a celebrity on our side to raise our profile and help fight mitochondrial disease.

“I’ve been helping The Lily Foundation here and there right from the start but now it’s time for me to work as hard as they do to raise money and awareness for the fight against mito. Please donate if you can, or come and say hello to me as I walk, although I may be too exhausted to respond!”

How can I get involved?

Kevin’s taking on this football-ground feat right in the middle of World Mitochondrial Disease Week, which is a global event designed to shine a spotlight on rare mitochondrial diseases. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to make lots of noise and create a sea of Lily pink to put mito on the map all the way along his march.

We’ll be with Kevin every step of the way, and some of his celebrity pals from the world of comedy and football will be joining him along the route. He’ll be stopping at each stadium for a photo opportunity, so we’re asking members of the mito community to come along to any of the stadiums and cheer Kevin on, meet him and even join him on his walk!  Register your interest to join Kevin on part of his walk, meet at a Stadium or cheer him on from the sidelines.

And if you can’t join Kevin on his amazing challenge, you can still donate to help fight mitochondrial disease. Every penny raised will go towards spreading the word about this devastating condition, supporting those affected by it and searching for a cure.
