Host a Mito Communi-TEA Party and help fight mitochondrial disease

Love tea and cake? This April, join The Lily Foundation’s Mito Communi-TEA Party to raise funds and spread the word about mitochondrial disease.

By hosting your own tea party, you’ll be able to enjoy a host of delicious treats whilst bringing people together for a very special cause. Every cup of tea, slice of cake and penny raised will make a difference to patients and families affected by mitochondrial disease.

How to host your Mito Communi-TEA Party

  • When and where: choose a date any time during the month of April to hold your event. Where you host it is up to you too! At home, in your workplace or school, even outdoors – the choice is yours.
  • Who to invite: bring friends, family, colleagues or neighbours together for tea, cake and a chat. Every guest helps raise awareness and contribute to the cause.

Fun ideas for your tea party

Get creative with your Mito Communi-TEA Party:

  • Traditional tea party: serve dainty sandwiches, fluffy scones and a showstopping Victoria sponge.
  • Bake-off challenge: host a friendly competition with rosettes for the star bakers and wooden spoons for best efforts.
  • Crafty tea break: pair tea with pottery painting or crocheting for a cosy crafting session.
  • Outdoor party: opt for a barbecue with burgers, sausages and cold drinks – perfect if the weather plays ball.

Making the leap into fundraising

If you’d like to take part in a fundraising challenge but you’re not sure where to start, read Sarah’s story. What began as a simple birthday fundraiser ended up with a leap from a plane and a grand total of over £20,000 raised in the fight against mitochondrial disease.

Raising money for charity isn’t as hard as you might think, especially when you have a strong community around you who are happy to sponsor you and spread the word about your challenge. So make that leap – sign up today to support The Lily Foundation and be part of something really special.
