We’re proud to support Professor Glen Jeffery and Dr Annegret Dahlmann-Noor’s innovative Red Light Therapy study based at UCL’s Institute of Opthalmology. The pair’s cutting-edge project explores how exposure to specific wavelengths of red light can improve mitochondrial function, offering hope for those living with mitochondrial disease.
One recognised symptom of mitochondrial disease is ptosis, otherwise known as droopy eyelids. This cutting-edge project aims to boost cellular energy production, thus potentially providing a treatment for ptosis and offering new hope for patients and their families.
By funding initiatives like this, The Lily Foundation are driving research that brings us closer to effective treatments and improved quality of life for everyone affected by rare mitochondrial diseases.
Watch the video below to discover how this project is making a difference to children aged 3 to 17 whilst offering hope for the future of mitochondrial disease care.
